There was childhood trauma in my life.
I was a very sensitive kid. Too many emotions. I didn't know how to process them.
I was called the "fat" kid in my family.
Just covered up all those feelings with food.
I was never taught to eat properly.
I was never taught what was underneath all that overeating. I was given diet pills at age 12, all throughout high school.
It helped the overeating for a while, but it never really solved the problem. I had to go to the doctor if I wanted to get the pills, but I was humiliated. I was shamed. I'd have to get on the scale in front of everybody. They would announce the weight, and if I didn't lose any that week, I was shamed even more.
It was not a good experience, very often I didn't want to go So I would try every other kind of eating fad-food diet. There was the shake diet, low fat diet, the no carb diet.... everything, but nothing really worked. And then I'd go back to the fat doctor.

It was a vicious, vicious cycle, never really understanding the emotions and then I'd get in my head about it and I wouldn't feel good about myself.
No self-confidence. No self-esteem. Judging myself all the time.
But the pivotal moment came when I learned how to incorporate Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) with other shamanic tools. EFT is an energy psychology technique that works on the amygdala of the brain, which helps you to get out of fight or flight and process all your emotions.
EFT helped me get to the root of the problem and discover there was a lot of childhood problems that created this. EFT helped me to release the judgment that I was holding on to from childhood. It helped me calm the stress. But it wasn't helping me to break the connections until I discovered how to bridge the gap from where I was and where I wanted to be.
This process of transformation, or 'shapeshifting,' is not merely metaphorical. It involves a holistic approach that integrates the profound insights of EFT with ancient shamanic practices, harnessing the power of visualization, meditation, and breathwork. This unique synergy is what I call GAP Tapping™, a method designed to bridge the 'gap' between where you are and where you want to be, enabling a deep, lasting shift in your emotional and physical well-being.

Now that I've discovered Gap Tapping™, it's helped me to work on other addictions, like over-shopping, over drinking, tv binging...etc. I was able to start breaking those other addictions as well to help me really understand more and more about what's going on underneath the surface.
Never feeling full enough, never feeling satisfied. Gap Tapping™ helped me to break that and get out of my own way.
Yo-yo dieting is not fun. It doesn't really work. But when we can uncover the root of why we're eating, why are we standing in front of the refrigerator, eating, eating, and eating.
It was difficult growing up. And those diet pills, they didn't really help. It was a quick fix. Our society is geared towards that, (Ozempic) right? It didn't help me to solve those problems nor get to the root of it, but now with Gap Tapping™, it can help me when I'm standing in front of the refrigerator, searching for the next bite, and the next bite, and the the next bite. Or in my closet in the morning, crying and criticizing myself because nothing fits, feelng like a loser.
Shame perpetuates the cycle. Judging ourselves perpetuates that as well.
Being able to admit that I'm an emotional eater is very powerful. It started helping me to look at the root cause and get out of my own way.

Not every emotional eater puts on weight. Some go the other way. They choose not to eat at all, and then they lack nutrition, which affects their health and wellness as well. So many ways emotional eating can affect us.
I invite you to join me on this journey. It’s a journey of self-discovery, of understanding the profound connection between your inner world and your eating habits, and ultimately, of reclaiming your power to shapeshift your relationship with yourself and with food.
